Ready, steady… download the update
The day that Gran Turismo fans have been waiting a long time for has finally arrived. Yes, Gran Turismo 7 has finally released on PS5 and PS4 with over 420 cars. But, as is always the case these days, there is a sizeable day one update that you’ll need to have installed before you can rev your engines and start some beef online.
Gran Turismo 7 has a large day one update on both PS5 and PS4. The update on PS4 is version 1.04, while on PS5 it’s 1.040.000. But what does the day one update do?
According to the Gran Turismo 7 1.04 and 1.040.000 patch notes, a few tweaks have been made to improve game stability online as well as fixing crashing issues. That’s where the game crashes. It can’t fix you being a crap driver, sorry.
Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.04 (1.040.000) Patch Notes
- Added gameplay adjustments.
- Fixed game crashing issues.
- Added online stability improvements.
- Network connection improvements.

If you already had Gran Turismo 7 pre-loaded as a digital copy ahead of its release today, you should already have the update applied to your game. However, if you’re a fan of physical media, you’ll have to pop your disc into your console and then download the update.
