Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have introduced a brand new feature called the Poke Portal to the franchise. This guide will break down everything you need to know about the Poke Portal, including what it is, what it’s used for, and how to use it in-game.
- Did your favourite Mon make it into the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Pokédex?
What Is The Pokemon Scarlet And Violet Poke Portal?
The Poke Portal is your social hub zone for multiplayer shenanigans in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. You’ll be able to trade and battle with Trainers all over the world, provided you have a Nintendo Online account.
Looking to take advantage of Generation 9’s co-op features? The Poke Portal is also home to the Union Circle feature. This will allow you to explore hub worlds with up to three friends. We’re imagining something like the Safari Zone in older Pokemon games here.
Co-op and multiplayer modes will expand the list of things you’ll be able to do in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. From the most recent trailer, we know you’ll be able to catch wild Pokémon and explore the world of Paldea together. Perhaps most excitingly, the Raid Dens from Sword and Shield make a return, of sorts. You can challenge yourselves by taking down Tera Pokemon in co-op Tera Raid Battles.
- What exactly ARE Tera Pokemon? We’ve broken it all down for you here.
How To Use The Poke Portal
There is currently no official word from Nintendo or Game Freak on how you can actually use the Poke Portal in Scarlet and Violet. Whilst we imagine it’ll be similar to previous multiplayer systems, like the Union Room in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl where you speak to an NPC and select what you want to do, it’s best to wait for official confirmation.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet launch November 18, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
