Breeding in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is quite different to previous entries in the series. It can be confusing, but we have it all figured out so you can start getting eggs to hatch. Here’s how the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet breeding process works.

How To Breed In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are quite strange within the long-running series because there is no way to raise your creatures in a daycare. Instead, you’ll be making eggs by hosting picnics in the great outdoors. Press Y to pause the game and then under the third branch is “Picnic.” Select that to start the process.
Once you make the selection, a table is summoned, and your character throws out all of the Pokemon in the party. To make the process of breeding easier, we recommend taking out the entire party to the PC and only selecting the male and female of the Pokemon you want to breed with. If the two pocket monsters are compatible, eggs will begin to emerge in a basket on a yellow blanket. Interact with it to see if there are any in there.

How To Increase The Possibility of Breeding
To increase the opportunity of an egg to show up, go to the table and then make a sandwich. One of the first recipes you’ll gain in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is a Jam Sandwich. You’ll need strawberries and jam to make it. Once formed and eaten, you’ll gain extra Egg Power, which means a greater likelihood of breeding.
Once you’ve gained an egg, place it in your party and roam around the Paldea region with it. When enough steps have been taken, the egg will hatch, revealing the baby Pokemon inside it. If you’re lucky, it might even be a shiny, a rare alternate form of a Pokemon with different colours. In that case, you may want to replicate it to trade with someone else.
